本书是韩国著名建筑师、履露斋建筑事务所创始人承孝相对自己过去几十年来工作成果的总结，按年表顺序，描述了事务所在他领导下进行的30多个建筑及规划项目。他将此书定名为“建筑档案”（Document）而非“作品集”，是因为不同于后者，此书在编辑风格上更近似于一本目录；更重要的是，书里每一个项目的文字都是建筑师本人站在今日角度对以往作品的重新诠释，同时引出建筑师对城市、建筑行业、自然、宗教以至人类未来的思考。
